Celebrities are often judged for their physical appearances, which is a superficial matter in reality. Just one change in their bodies and gossip sites and fans would accuse them of getting plastic surgery. Once they do open up about getting work done (or just never really hid it in the first place), they get crucified.

One actress who’s been subject to these criticisms is Janella Salvador. Apparently, some people have accused her of getting a nose job—not that it’s a bad thing, but it’s not something that should be used to make someone feel horrible about themselves.

During a press conference for her new single “Take It Easy,” Janella opened up about her insecurities. “It’s normal to feel insecure. And dati, I used to be insecure about, siguro, my nose,” she said. “Ngayon, hindi na talaga. Tanggap ko na kasi. This is what [sic] the real me. This is bagay sa face ko. Eto na talaga. Kilala na po this face and I just, might as well [be] confident na rin.” (Now, I don’t feel like that anymore. I’ve accepted [how I look.] This is the real me. This is what suits my face. This is it. My face is already well-known so I just, might as well be confident.)

When she was asked about getting a nose job, she quipped, “Kahit ganyan-ganyanin ko pa sa harap ninyo.” (I’ll move it around in front of all of you [to prove it’s real.]) On a serious note, she clarified that despite being insecure of that feature, she never did anything to it.

Meanwhile, Janella also emphasized the importance of self-love and choosing not to be in a relationship right now. This is in light of her breakup with Elmo Magalona last year.

The lesson here? Just leave people alone and let them love themselves.
