The ‘Knock Down the House’ trailer will give you goosebumps

Netflix has given us so many good documentaries, and their new one about female politicians looks just as promising. Directed by Rachel Lears, Knock Down the House follows Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and fellow candidates Amy Vilela, Cori Bush, and Paula Jean Swearengin, on their campaign trail during last year’s US midterm elections. AOC further revealed that it’s about their “journey of trying to run for office without big money.”

Netflix reportedly paid a whopping $10 million to secure the rights to the film, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January.

In the recently released trailer by Netflix, we see AOC—who famously beat 10-term congressman Joe Crowley—saying, “If I was a rational person I would have dropped out of this race a long time ago. He’s gonna tell me I’m small, that I’m young, that I’m inexperienced.”

The trailer also gave a peek at the politicians’ difficult background, and how it inspired them to run for office. Not gonna lie, the short clip was enough to give me feels and move me. I will for sure be watching the full documentary when it comes out on Netflix on May 1.

Will you watch it too?
