This week is emotionally draining. On top of our already existing everyday existential dread (congrats if you got through that mouthful), the election’s seeming outcome feels like the final nail in the coffin—a chilling phrase that could also pertain to our country’s future. Obviously, you know where we stand. Yeah, we’re not happy. Personally, I’ve been listening to songs about being heartbroken, ‘cause that’s how I feel about the partial results. My anxiety level has gone up.
This week, we’re checking in on our officemates too. Talking about how we feel about this election would most probably lead to a looong discussion. So instead, for this week’s Preen Picks, I asked them: If you could describe how you feel about the election results by naming one song, what would it be and why? “In The End” by Linkin Park
I think it would be a song I would personally dedicate to the Philippines because no matter how hard I tried and fought for who and what I believe in, in the end, it doesn’t even matter because people will still hold on to their personal biases and I still got disappointed with the results. – Lyle Pendon, Junior Content Creator

It starts to play during the ending scene when Arya, amidst the carnage of King’s Landing, sees a white horse standing nearby. The music that plays is a mash-up of two epic GOT songs: The Rains of Castamere and the Light of the Seven. Both songs spelled doom for the scenes they first appeared in, which is basically what I felt when the unofficial results were out: f*cking dread. I’m suprised there isn’t a meme yet comparing the PH to King’s Landing and our future senators (cringe) to Dany and Drogon.
