Last night, Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray, dressed in a waling waling-inspired Mak Tumang gown, took her farewell walk at the Binibining Pilipinas stage, followed by a moving speech which, from the looks of it, left no dry eye in the audience.
Catriona got emotional as she thanked everyone’s support and recounted her hard journey and what made her kept going despite the “mountains” of challenges she encountered, like her own fears, others’ doubts, and finding purpose in her endeavour.
“I may only be one person, but now I have the opportunity to serve 104 million Filipinos, and I knew that I was doing this para sa Pilipinas. Inside each and every one of us is a king or queen with the ability to conquer the universe, whatever that may be for you. But we must first conquer ourselves, conquer what others perceive of us, and finally, conquer with a purpose,” she said. “To conquer our dreams. Philippines, I will forever raise our flag.”
It seems netizens were just as affected too. Even local celebrities expressed how they were moved to tears by Catriona’s speech.

I think @catrionaelisa should be a motivation speaker after her reign. And she should come out with a book while she’s at it. So inspiring. She has set the bar so high 🇵🇭#BbPilipinas2019
