Ladies and gents, welcome to the crazy loud, and all-around exciting time that is the Leo season! After Cancer season in Mercury Retrograde where we got deep in heavy emotions, I’m sure we all need a breather—and Leo season offers just that. From July 23rd to August 23rd, we are going to be affected by the energy of what Astrostyle calls the “the zodiac’s brightest, bawdiest sign.”
“Every year, when the sun moves from the constellation of Cancer to the constellation of Leo, there’s a big shift in energy due to the sun entering one of its favorite signs to be in,” Narayana Montúfar, Senior Astrologer for Astrology.com and Horoscope.com, tells Refinery29. “When in this fixed fire sign, the sun in Leo brings joy, energy, passion, and self-expression. No matter our sign, for the next four weeks we are being called to channel our creativity into our endeavors as we boldly pursue our desires.”
Sounds like a promising four weeks, yes? But hold up. Remember that while astrology serves as a guide, ultimately, it’s up to us to control our fates. So we urge you to actively put effort into making the most out of this season. Don’t waste it. Here’s what you can do:
Own it
“As nurturing, heartfelt Cancer season draws to a close, Leo season turns our attention away from our cozy creature comforts, putting us under the proverbial spotlight to showcase our heart’s truest passions and desires,” Astrostyle notes. “Leo is the astrological showstopper, the sign that loves being the center of attention.”
Don’t worry, we’ll all benefit from this ~big Leo energy.~ So during this season, we encourage you to embrace a style or trend you’ve always wanted to try but never did because you think you can’t pull it off. Sis, go get that rainbow hair or cute outrageous style that’s been saved in your Pinterest board since forever. As the famous saying goes: #NoRagrets.
Be more open, relationship-wise
According to Bustle, “The lion of the zodiac is kind, generous, and all about romance. The candles, the spontaneous trips, the heart-to-hearts, the flowers, and the affection—all of it is second nature to a Leo. Even if you’re not a Leo, you could still be feeling some type of way this season because of what’s in the air.”
Narayana affirms this and stresses that this year is especially a great time for relationships because “The sun joins Mars and Venus in the sign of the Lion, and all three planets will affect our summer.” She explains, “When these legendary cosmic lovers meet in Leo pretty close to the beams of the sun, we can expect to feel a surge of sexual drive and desire, especially around the new moon in Leo, which will add an emotional connection to the mix as it rises in the sky on July 31.”
So you know what you have to do right? If you’re single, open your heart to people. If you’re in a relationship, it’s time to spice things up *wink wink.* It’s also the time to be more open and adventurous in terms of other relationships in your life—even with yourself.
Try activities outside of your comfort zone
Speaking of adventure—the Leo season is also the time to try something new; something out of your comfort zone. So we urge you to enroll in a class you’re typically afraid or hesitant to try—like pole dancing, or a theater class.
“Leo season opens the door outward, inviting you to embrace creativity, action and drama,” The Cut points out. “Leo is a fire sign, and fire is the element of action, motion, and creation. Leo’s energy is happy to shine and perform and receive attention, unafraid of drama and unafraid to be extraordinary.”
So go out there and have the courage to be bold and try new things. Live your best life this Leo season! Like the site further wrote, “At its best, Leo season can offer the freedom you need to express yourself fully, to be yourself truly, to move through the world the way you’ve always wanted to.”
Say yes to a vacay
Like we mentioned, Cancer season was especially heavy. But hey, we survived it and owe ourselves a time to finally relax. “Leo season beckons us to take a break from our pain and suffering and to instead, go out into the world and find joy again, find our motivation again, find our heart and soul again,” Forever Conscious notes. “While the Leo Sun in July 2019 will be helping us to heal from the Eclipses, the Leo Sun in August 2019 is much brighter and our chance to lighten the loads on our backs and on our hearts.”
The site further encouraged a vacation or even a quick weekend getaway. “Inspire yourself. Invite love and relaxation in. Fall in love with your life again. For when you do, you will feel powerful, strong, and motivated to move through not only the rest of the year, but the rest of your life.”
Time to finally book that flight! Also, a tip: Say yes to spontaneous trips!
Take charge
“While Leo’s confidence sometimes tends toward the performative, it can be regal and authoritative, too. With the combined power of the sun and the fire element, Leo is a sign that’s happy to take charge,” The Cut wrote. So hey, if you aren’t already, it’s time you step up and take a leadership role. We don’t just mean in terms of your career. Taking charge also applies in other areas of your life, like personal relationships.
However, take note that “This doesn’t necessarily mean commanding or ruling over other people.” The Cut stresses, “It can mean that, of course, but it’s as likely to mean taking charge of the energy in a room, or taking control of a false narrative and bending it toward the truth, or taking command of your own life.”
In other words, if you’ve been feeling lost, now’s the time to get ahold of the reigns and take back control of your life. It’s not too late!
