We’re prepping for a somber Christmas with SB19’s ‘Nyebe’

The band’s newest single is a reflection of the hard times

SB19’s newest single “Nyebe” is a gift to anyone who’s fallen on hard times recently and who might also be facing a rough time during the holidays. It’s both a call for hope in the middle of apparent hopelessness and a clean, well-lit place when you need it.

“Nyebe is a ballad that encapsulates warmth, longing, and sadness in a track,” reads the video description of the released visualizer accompanying the track, adding that the footage was taken from their recently concluded “Where You At” comeback tour.

Whatever uncertainty, longing, and hopelessness you feel, we hope this song will keep you company.

The video is fittingly somber, filmed in black and white and with an opening narration of “What is uncertainty? What is longing? What is hopelessness?” But like the song itself, it ends on a hopeful note with shots of the members laughing together. “Matutunaw din lahat ng nyebe” indeed.

It’s not exactly a Christmas song, though. Aside from being released in December and using snow as a metaphor for hardships, there’s nothing else that really ties it back to the holidays, which is fitting because when has Christmas felt like Christmas recently?

Both the song and video were created by main rapper Pablo, who acted as writer, producer, and creative director. It’s nice to see him showing vulnerability with this track, and you can tell that it’s meaningful for him. We hope to see more of this in the future.

Happy holidays, everyone.
