Sea moss: The vegan ingredient you should use in your skincare

The new decade is seeing a rise in “clean” and natural beauty. One ingredient that’s been on a lot of people’s radars recently is sea moss, which Byrdie notes as a vegan ingredient that’s being added to juices, smoothies, and skincare products.

Sea moss has high vitamin and mineral content that has antibacterial, antiviral and antimicrobial functions, as well as hydrating properties. It’s also rich in sulfur which can help decrease excessive sebum production in the skin.

Is this the right skincare ingredient for you? We’ve listed down some products you can cop ASAP.

Lush Breath of Fresh Air Toner Water

If you need a face mist to cool you down and tone your skin on the go, try Lush’s Breath of Fresh Air Toner Water. It’s made with carrageenan seaweed extract from Irish moss which helps balance the skin’s pH level, and rose absolute to reduce redness. Available at Glorietta 4.

Cocokind Sea Moss Exfoliator

This gentle exfoliator is made with fine sea moss particles that buff away dead skin cells and nourish the skin with nutrients like vitamin A, vitamin K, and calcium. It will also reveal a moisturized skin and radiant glow after each use. Available at Healthy Options.

Oceà Natural Skincare Ocean Mineral Complex Serum

Oceà’s serum is lightweight and concentrated, which makes it easier to be absorbed by the skin. It’s formulated with seaweed, kelp, spirulina, Irish moss, and ocean minerals to rejuvenate the skin sans the harsh chemicals. Available online.

Snoe Beauty Body Wonderland Leg-Metabolizing Cool Gel with Slimlite Technology

This gel is meant to relieve any leg pain, be it from too much walking or after working out. It’s formulated with horse chestnut, which is an anti-inflammatory herb that can help reduce fluid retention; black pepper to increase circulation and flush toxins; and Irish moss to treat inflamed tissues. Available at Landmark, TriNoma.

TonyMoly Green Vita C Glow Aura Cream

Made with Iceland moss extract, this TonyMoly cream provides intense hydration. It also adds a brightening effect to the skin and provides UV protection. Available at SM Mall of Asia.
