The real V-Day gift: A surprise John Lloyd-Bea reunion

During the opening of Art Fair 2020‘s 10 Days of Art last night, Feb. 14, people gathered at Ayala Triangle for a screening of “One More Chance.” But the real Valentine’s Day treat came after the film when John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo appeared to do a live screenplay reading of “That Thing Called Tadhana.”

Director Antoinette Jadaone kicked off the reading on stage before calling Alonzo and Cruz onto the stage to read the rest of the script as Mace and Anthony, respectively. According to ANCX, spectators present at the park were obviously thrilled to see the actors together again.

Alonzo and Cruz used to be one of the most popular love teams in the mid-2000’s with films like “Close to You” and “One More Chance.” Their last film together was 2014’s “A Second Chance.”

The actors reunited last year to do a Turks commercial, which everyone thought was a third “One More Chance” movie at first.

This Valentine’s Day reunion may or may not be a hint at future projects together, but one could hope. For now, Cruz is making his comeback in a Ricky Lee and Lav Diaz film; Alonzo is taking a break (as far as we know) after the success of “Unbreakable” where she starred alongside Angelica Panganiban.

Now we wish we were at Ayala Triangle to see this moment for ourselves.
