Just this morning, Ian Veneracion and his daughter Deirdre went on “Magandang Buhay” to talk about the latter’s coming out story.
The “Make It With You” actor shared how teary-eyed Deirdre approached him as he was fixing his motorcycle to admit that she liked girls. “Me also, I like girls,” is what he replied to his daughter’s confession.
This confused his Deirdre, 16, who then asked if it was okay that she liked girls. He replied saying how she shouldn’t be apologetic for liking girls, especially not to him. “You can be whoever you want to be and I have full support,” he said.
Ian continued the story, saying how it was a waste of one’s life if you’re just going to be apologetic and ashamed of who you really are. He was also the one who helped Deirdre tell her mom.
We’re hoping more parents would be more accepting and supportive so that no one has to feel the need to hide their real selves.
