Outdoor hangouts may be things of the past but why not make the most of your memories with a guided imagery exercise? Gal Gadot isn’t the only one who can do a little imagining this quarantine period.
If you’ve been daydreaming about meeting up with your pals and all the places you could go to right now, take it to the next level. Dress up as if you’re going out while staying in! Instead of getting bummed out over not being able to go out, enjoy your pre-going out rituals. And you know what would help with reliving those fun times? Music to match the vibe! Here are five albums that will get you feeling like you’re out of the house and revving for a little romp.
“Birds of Prey: The Album”
Take cues from Harley Quinn and the Birds of Prey by wearing something that will make you feel sexy AND bulletproof. “Birds of Prey: The Album” is the perfect soundtrack to your own rowdy night with the girls. Doja Cat’s “Boss Bitch,” Megan Thee Stallion’s “Diamonds” and Saweetie’s “Sway With Me” are tracks that will have you bouncing on your feet and feeling like mischief personified. Halsey’s “Experiment On Me” is riot grrl perfection for the gal not to mess with. And the tantalizing tunes of “Joke’s On You” and “It’s A Man’s Man’s Man’s World” will remind you of the time you made a friendship pact to never be a fool for a man ever again.
“Future Nostalgia”
The release of Dua Lipa’s “Future Nostalgia” is a party in the making. We’re sure we’re not the only ones who promised ourselves to groove to the aptly named electro-funk album on a packed dance floor in a (hopefully) not-so-distant future. Break out your brightest party fits and pair them with your reliable moves when you blast “Physical” and “Don’t Start Now.” Some tracks like “Levitating” and “Hallucinate” call for a dance partner to go crazy but they lead up to the in-your-face finale of “Boys Will Be Boys,” a great anthem to cap off a night with your feisty squad.
“Itaewon Class” Original Television Soundtrack Album
Nevermind if you’re not a fan of the hit Netflix K-drama, the OST of “Itaewon Class” is sure to remind you of the universal language of pub crawls. It’s for those nights when you agree for after-work hours drinks with your pals because you feel like life’s been kicking your butt as of late. Gaho’s “시작” and Woosung’s “You Make Me Back” are fiery guitar-backed songs for the underdogs with a world to conquer. The album also has mellow offerings like “Sweet Night” from BTS’s V that will stir memories of taking a walk under the moonlight to sober up and chatting about heartbreak or budding romances.
“After Hours”
After the break-up with Selena Gomez, we’ve been waiting for a strong comeback from The Weeknd. And he did not disappoint with “After Hours.” Synth-heavy track “Blinding Lights” will have you feeling like an invincible ‘80s protagonist. Ever been to a house party where some drama unfolds before your eyes? About half of the goods on this R&B album sound like that while the other half is so over it. “In Your Eyes” and “Save Your Tears” hurts to listen to but knowing that you can still dance through the pain will keep you hopeful.
“Miss Anthropocene”
We’ve had a bit of a love-hate relationship with Grimes ever since she started dating and sharing opinions with Elon Musk. But we took a listen to “Miss Anthropocene” and it’s like communicating with the moon. The art mixes for “So I Fell Through the Earth” and “My Name is Dark” are wicked sounds for your waif dreams. Get the colored lights out for when the club mix for “Violence” comes on to really build your electro-party landscape.
Start planning your indoor night out. It may all be in your head but with these albums blasting on the speakers, does that really matter?
