KK Slider stream queen album redraws you need to see ASAP

Animal Crossing: New Horizon has dominated the world. Not only is it a big hit in the field of gaming, it has also gained traction among fans of fashion, art  and now…music? Since New Leaf, players have been collecting album covers for KK Slider’s songs. But it seems that the collective appetite for KK covers is far from sated. The game’s resident musician has inspired a new redraw challenge that has been trending on Twitter under the tag #kkslideralbumredraw. If you haven’t checked it out yet, do it ASAP. It’s a goldmine of great art.

“What’s so special about KK Slider?” you might ask.  Brooke Bajgrowicz writes in an article for TheGamer that the Animal Crossing character’s appeal is from “his laid-back persona, boppin’ music and his overall groovy vibes.” Not to mention, he performs live AND gives players virtual copies of his songs. What a generous king!

Based on Nintendo video game composer Kazumi Totaka (we see the resemblance!), perhaps KK Slider was destined for greatness. He breathes so much life into the game that his influence has now reached us IRL. Here are our favorite album redraws with KK Slider as our favorite female musicians for your viewing pleasure.

“The Fame Monster” by drawckie

Get ready to go “Ra-ra-ra-ah-ah-roma-roma-ma” with Jackie’s “The Fame Monster” redraw. Who knew KK Slider would rock the big bob with bangs? He’s serving us sleek mystique with that vinyl coat and dark eyeshadow. “The trend is so cute and I love seeing how creative people get with it,” says Jackie. The artist’s handle is @drawckie on Twitch, Twitter and Instagram

“Hot Pink” by shibadoe

KK Slide is a canine but he sure looks great as Doja Cat. Like the “Say So” singer on her album “Hot Pink,” KK is rocking pink tresses with fingerless gloves of the same color. Rachel McGregor didn’t forget to give him the long lashes and the diamond dangling earring. The artist shared with us, “I think it’s really cute and it’s so nice to see so much art that combines real-life music with a video game that I’ve loved for years!” They go by @shibadoe on Twitter and Instagram

“SAWAYAMA” by teashay

The “SAWAYAMA” redraw by teashay is something to behold. We never thought we needed to see KK Slider with suspended draping pigtails and golden nails. For that added sparkle, he also has the glimmer eyeshadow and dangling earrings. “I think it’s very fun seeing people’s rendition of different albums, as well as seeing what kind of music everyone’s been listening to,” teashay admits. You can find them on Twitter and Instagram.

“Froot” by Tribdinosaur

We’re living la dolce vita with the “Froot” cover from Tribdinosaur. KK Slider’s fur has streaks of pink, green and blue as he smizes in front of the camera. He is illuminated and has a cute hook earring on. Collarbones out, he’s top model material.

While Marina Diamandis once sang about how she’s obsessed with the mess that’s America, KK Slider is different. Tribdinosaur shared with us his thoughts on the character’s charm. “I love that the most popular and beloved musician in the Animal Crossing world is NOT a luxurious pop celebrity living life in the fast lane, but rather a genuine, down-to-Earth guy. K.K. Slider is happy wandering from town-to-town with just his guitar and a few thoughtful words of wisdom. He’s so simple, he doesn’t even wear clothes! But that’s okay because he’s a fictional cartoon dog,” he affirmed. You can check his Twitter and Instagram for more of his work.

“Be The Cowboy” by Daisy Gaeta

My God, I was so lonely before seeing artist @daisygator’s “Be The Cowboy” cover. KK Slider is gazing straight at us (with sadness or contempt?) while a villager applies eyeliner on him. His striking red lippie even matches Mitski’s on the original. KK please sing the line Mune ga hachikire-sōde.

“Feel Special” by winnie

We’re all eagerly waiting for the Twice comeback. In the meantime, we have Twice TikToks and album cover redraws to keep us company. Winnie redrew the “Feel Special” cover with KK Slider as all the nine members. Cute hairstyles and pale pink fits really suit him. Tzuyu Slider is such a visual.  When asked why they joined the challenge, Winnie said, “I think it’s a good way to be creative and reimagine these different album covers and it’s also so fun and I love that artists all around the world are coming together this way.” Check their art out on Twitter and Instagram.

“Fancy” by calemonsi

Another Twice-inspired redraw on our list is calemonsi’s “Fancy” cover. Yup, the nine members are also all KK Slider. He’s looking super chic in these retro fits. Sana Slider is looking extra posh with that wide-brimmed pink hat.

The artist expressed their excitement about the trend. “I’ve been a fan of Animal Crossing since Wild World and K.K.Slider is actually my favorite character there. I’ve seen a lot of K.K. Slider covers of recent songs on Youtube as well! I’m not sure who started the trend but I HAD to jump in on it as soon as I saw it!” they said. You can find  calemonsi on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram

“A Seat at the Table” by CelestialCircus

Solange is a queen in her own right, with or without family ties with Beyonce.  CelestialCircus shares with us this KK Slider homage to “A Seat at the Table.” He has curly hair adorned with clips. His strong brow game complements the drama of the photo. The artist is on Twitter and Instagram.

“Fallen” by DevilBombers

KK Slider is rock diva Amy Lee on this redraw for Evanescence’s “Fallen.” Devilbombers put him on goth glam mode with the black side bangs and that hard stare. You can find the artist on Twitter and Instagram.

“Emotion: Side B” by radiostarkiller

For radiostarkiller, the redraw challenge is “pretty hilarious and creative” and they make it a point to check out other album covers. The artist’s contribution to the trend is this bright and contemporary reimagining of Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Emotion: Side B.” KK Slider looks pretty comfy to us on this one. Look up radiostarkiller on Twitter and Instagram for more.

“Isolation” by Kylie Welton

Kali Uchis oozes sensuality and soul. In Kylie Welton’s redraw, KK Slider is in a seductive two-piece fit evoking that spirit while draping over blue satin. Peep that pink eyeshadow and half-lidded gaze.

“My First Album” by Peach

We had a good laugh with this one. Does Peppa Pig have the range? Maybe so. In any case, Peach has us a KK Slider album cover for “My First Album.” Don’t tell Peppa this but we personally think that the Animal Crossing crooner is a more formidable musician. Peach’s commissions are open if you were wondering how the other villagers look like if they were on Peppa world. The artist is on Twitter
