Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto announced today, May 5, that the local government will start distributing cash assistance to all families in the city that did not get financial aid from the national government. This will also include LGBTQ+ partners with kids.
Sotto said in a Facebook livestream that the localized Social Amelioration Program (SAP) aims to help around 160,000 families in Pasig. Starting today, local government officials will distribute forms to each household, which a family representative will fill out before they can receive P8,000.
“Lahat po. Pag sinabi ko pong lahat, ibig sabihin lahat. Kasama po ang nangungupahan. Basta residente ng Pasig,” (Everyone. When I say everyone will be given aid, I mean everyone. This includes those who are renting [in condominiums]. As long as they’re residents of Pasig.) said Sotto.
Human rights activist Francis Baraan IV shared a photo of Pasig’s Supplemental Social Amelioration Program Implementation Guidelines, which includes LGBTQ+ partners with kids under the list of qualified families.
