It’s a sad day for sapphics. Cara Delevingne and Ashley Benson have ended their two-year relationship. E News! reported the news on the split and said that they’ve been told that the two are spending the quarantine apart but with friends.
Cara and Ashley first shared a photo together back in 2018. They were co-stars on the Alex Ross Perry film “Her Smell” and were publicly seen hanging out at the movie’s press events in September that year. But their first official appearance together was on Paris Fashion that same month.
It was a pretty clear indication that they ended 2018 as not-just-friends after Cara rented London’s Natural History Museum for Ashley’s birthday. We know romance when we see it.
In 2019, stylist Jami Mizrahi shared a cute photo of the two cuddling after Karl Lagerfeld’s last Chanel show. It was around the same time that they started calling out people on their Instagram comments for telling them that they shouldn’t be around each other and that they should date men. Cara confirmed their relationship by posting a clip of them kissing in “Her Smell.”
The same year, there was a rumor that circulated about the two getting married in Las Vegas. E News! revealed back then that it was actually a “friendship ceremony” that was officiated by an Elvis Presley impersonator. That still sounds super sweet.
The insider that spoke with E News! said that what the two had was “a different type of relationship with a lot of understanding, support and loving communication.” The last photo of them together on Ashley’s Instagram was captioned “my better half.”

We’re sorry to see them part ways and it seems we’re not the only ones. Several Twitter users also commented on the breakup and there were tweets wondering who was getting custody of the “sex swing” they were seen carrying in those much-shared tabloid photos.
