Today, we mourn with the local film industry as Anita Linda passes away

The local film industry has lost one of its most talented actresses, Anita Linda. Confirmed by her daughter Francesca Legaspi, the 95-year-old veteran actress was pronounced dead due to heart failure by a doctor called to their home. According to “Circa” and “Adela” director Adolfo Alix Jr., Legaspi shared that her mother had not been eating well and had trouble breathing prior to her death.

In his tribute post for Linda, Alix mourned  the loss of someone he considers his lola. He also offers his condolences to Linda’s children, Fred Legaspi and Francesca Legaspi. Alix first worked with the veteran actress in his 2007 film “Tambolista.”

“She was the only actress to have experienced the Golden Age of Philippine cinema,” Alix told Inquirer.net. “She was able to work with all the great directors of the past, like Gerry de Leon, Lino Brocka, Ishmael Bernal, Joey Gosiengfiao, and then with Mike de Leon. She was a favorite of everyone.”

Adored and praised by many directors in the industry, Linda was honored for her contributions at the 100th year of Philippine cinema last year. 2019 was also the year the world saw her last film, Alix’s Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino entry “Circa.”
