Calling all ARMYs! The new BTS drama just started its production

With the new K-drama inspired by pre-debut BTS starting production, the hunt for actors who will be playing RM, Jin, Suga, J Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook has also begun. On June 17, media outlets announced the title of the much-awaited drama, “Blue Sky,” and reported that filming could start in September.

According to a report from Ilgan Sports, Chorokbaem Media confirmed that talents are already starting to audition and meeting the directors of the series.

“It is true that we have taken the first steps in production with the auditioning of the main and supporting roles. However, nothing has been set yet with future scheduling,” Chorokbaem Media said in a statement from Koreaboo.

Auditions are being held in complete secrecy, with the actors only being given excerpts of the script to avoid leaks and spoilers. Moreover, the production team was reported to be looking at rookie actors for the series.

Big Hit Entertainment initially announced the production of the drama late in 2019 and only revealed its theme (the BTS Universe) and its writer (Kim Soo Jin). Soo Jin is known for his work in “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo,” “Radiant,” “Old Miss Diary” and “I Live in Cheongdamdong.” Now that more details have been announced, the producing director was also revealed to be Kim Hae Jong, who directed hit dramas like “Blooded Palace: The War of Flowers,” “Your Neighbor’s Wife” and “Beloved Eun-dong.”

Though “Blue Sky” will be inspired by individual lives of the Bangtan boys from their school days up to their debut, it will be treated as a fictional drama. Media outlets also confirmed that the characters of the show will not feature the names of the boys, leaving it up to the ARMYs to guess whose stories are portrayed. If the drama follows its production schedule, the series could premiere sometime early in 2021.
