The world has been sleeping on so much Asian talent and we agree that Asian artists deserve more representation in the international music scene. When 88rising hosted their online concert “Asia Rising Forever” back in May, we got to witness performances from Asian artists from all over the world including Filipino acts Iñigo Pascual and beabadoobee. The global music collective is taking a step forward in bringing more attention to Filipino music by launching its first Filipino“PARADISE RISING” this month.
In partnership with Globe, 88rising made the announcement by tweeting a teaser video that takes you on a 29-second mini-tour around the country featuring signature beaches and a city skyline.
Similar to how they’ve brought international audiences to Asian artists like Rich Brian, NIKI, Joji and the Higher Brothers, 88rising aims to do the same with PARADISE RISING to invite “the most promising of Filipino artists and develop a regular cadence of music releases on the label’s platform.”
“The Philippines and music go hand in hand, and there is such a vibrancy in the way talented young artists are emerging, and such a massive audience in love with music. We want to support their voices, help them be heard, and bring music from the Philippines to a global audience.” said 88rising’s founder Sean Miyashiro. “Globe shares this same vision and passion with us—and we are excited about what we can do together.”
To officially launch the new label, PARADISE RISING will be dropping their first mixtape “semilucent” on July 31 featuring local faves Kiana V, Massiah, Leila Alcasid, Fern. and Jason Dhakal.

Knowing the sounds of these artists, we’re guessing that the mixtape will feature Pop, Soul and R&B genres reminiscent of 88rising’s signature sound.
“It will be interesting to see what these creative young artists can bring to the global stage. As we journey along with them, we are delighted to be doing it with a partner that is as innovative and driven in amplifying Asian talent and music that resonates with listeners worldwide,” said Globe President and CEO Ernest Cu.
