ICYMI, Ben&Ben announced yesterday that, taking a cue from K-pop, they would be officially starting their own fanclub called Lights.
However, after netizens pointed out that another official fanclub already has that name (for K-pop boy band Highlight, formerly known as Beast), the band retracted this announcement on social media.
“We truly did not realize that it may cause trouble being that Ben&Ben is an OPM band from the Philippines. We hold high respect for K-pop culture and K-pop fandoms,” wrote the band.
Currently, they have not yet announced if they will eventually be pushing through with an official fanclub with another name. In the meantime, fans have suggested various Filipino words for light as a replacement, like sinagtala for starlight or the Bisayan kahayag for light.
