What a world we’re living in. Known Swiftie and Blackpink main vocalist Rosé shared that she received a gift from John Mayer today, July 16. Yes, the sob rock singer who broke Taylor Swift’s heart when she was 19 and tried to publicly flirt with Nicki Minaj on Twitter.
On Instagram Stories, Rosé shared photos of a Roxy Pink PRS Silver Sky electric guitar sent to her with Mayer’s handwritten note that says, “I should be thanking you! (So thank you.)” She thanked him back and added, “Life is complete.”
ICYMI, Rosé sang a cover of “Slow Dancing In A Burning Room” on the JTBC variety show “Sea of Hope.” It’s a chill show where its star-studded cast (Lee Ji-ah, Lee Dong-wook, Kim Go-eun, Yoon Jong-shin, AKMU’s Lee Su-hyun, and Shinee’s Onew) sing, make food, and invite guests over.
On June 30, Mayer retweeted the video of Rosé’s cover and said, “This is gorgeous.” If you’re speculating that he might be making a move on her, you’re probably wrong. (Thank god.) The guitar model is the latest drop from his collaboration line with PRS Guitars. The gift is more likely a sincere token of appreciation (and a way to market the instrument).
Here’s the real kicker. In a previous episode, we hear Rosé ask a member of the live band accompanying her whether she should cover Taylor Swift’s “Dear John.” Yup, the song which Swift wrote about Mayer because of their not-so-amicable split. (The lines “Don’t you think 19 is too young / To be played by your dark twisted games, when I loved you so?” still has me screaming!)
SwiftieBlinks are guessing that we’ll be treated to Rosé’s performance of the song in next week’s episode. Will she be strumming its chords on her new guitar? If she does, we sure hope Mayer doesn’t take the gift back.
