It has been 10 long years already since 21-year-old Alexander Wang was fresh out of Parsons and pursued his namesake brand. In lieu of his 10th year anniversary, fans were asked to choose online their favorite pieces from the brand throughout the years. The top pieces were summed up to 10 looks and are up for a resale. For those itching to get their hands on these hip Wang pieces, they are now available for pre-order.
The voting process was done through social media and came to a close last July. The 25 best-selling pieces are put together into 10 looks in what’s aptly called the “Wang 10” capsule collection.
What appears to be an instant hit is the spring 2009 collection—four out of the 10 reissued pieces originated from that season, such as the fringed leather moto jacket and the sheer cup dress. A few standout pieces from the spring 2010 runway and the high-octane fall 2011 show are peppered throughout the collection.
It is interesting to note that all the pieces chosen were from 2007 onwards. That year marked Alexander’s very first complete women’s line that debuted during New York Fashion Week. What started as a humble knitwear line 10 years ago is now a multi-million dollar business with sales reaching over $100 million dollars.
The 31-year-old designer just closed the doors of his three-year stint with French fashion house Balenciaga to focus more on his growing eponymous label.
As he shows his new spring 2016 collection in New York Fashion Week this September, his final collection for Balenciaga will also be shown in Paris during Fashion Week.
