Are you into biopics about high society and the London underworld? Are you also a fan of Lovi Poe, Alex Pettyfer, and Poppy Delevigne and spent the early 2010s creating “Bakekang” x “Beastly” crossover crack fics? Weirdly enough, your extra-specific wish has been granted.
Lovi Poe has just been cast in “The Chelsea Cowboy,” a biopic about John Bindon, an English actor and bodyguard. Of course, he’s also more than just that: Aside from wooing many celebrities and socialites (and meeting Princess Margaret), he’s alleged to have gangster connections. The film’s synopsis reads: “The Chelsea Cowboy charts the rise and fall of underworld hard-man turned actor Bindon, who despite a successful acting career and passionate romantic liaisons with members of high society, was unable to leave his criminal past behind.”
Poe is going to play the real life actress and singer Dana Gillespie, who employed Bindon as her bodyguard. Gillespie herself has a colorful personal history: Aside from tasting fame as a musical actress, teen pop icon, rock star, and later blues singer, she also had dalliances with many of the ‘60s rock elite including David Bowie, Mick Jagger, Keith Moon, and Bob Dylan. They’re probably not going to show Poe seducing all of the music hall of fame since the movie’s not about her character, but I for one would love to see it.

The movie is produced by Idris Elba (betcha didn’t expect that) and Victor Glynn, written by Leon Butler, and will be directed by Ben Cookson. Filming is set to begin in late September.
Gonna be honest, as a “Made in Chelsea” fan, the title is bringing me so much joy. Chelsea’s one of the poshest places in London, and it’s where many of the aristocratic and moneyed rich live. I’m really excited to see how “The Chelsea Cowboy” is going to grime up the district.
