While severe tropical storm Maring is about to leave the Philippine area of responsibility, flood-hit areas in Northern Luzon still need assistance as rescue operations and evacuation efforts continue.
A total of 1,750 families were affected in the region alone, according to a Cagayan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office report released yesterday, Oct. 11.
On social media, hashtags such as #NorthernLuzonNeedsHelp and #CagayanNeedsHelp trended while netizens banded together to boost posts on emergency hotlines and calls for help from stranded families.
Apart from the joint efforts of local government units, Vice President Leni Robredo’s office also deployed on-ground teams to provide relief assistance and to gather rescue equipment.
