One of South Korea’s most beloved actresses is getting hitched and having a baby. Park Shin-hye and her longtime boyfriend and fellow actor Choi Tae-joon announced their upcoming wedding through their respective official fan cafes today, Nov. 23. The couple have been very private since they confirmed that they’ve been dating since 2017.
Park’s agency Salt Entertainment and Choi’s agency Studio Santa Claus Entertainment also confirmed that the couple is scheduled to get married on Jan. 22, 2022 in Seoul. The couple stated in their respective letters to fans that while preparing for their marriage, they found out that they’re expecting a baby.
“I am getting married with the person I have been in a relationship with for a long time. He has been a source of support for a long time and embraced all of the shortcomings of the person Park Shin Hye, and I would like to begin a life as a married couple with him,” wrote Park. “And though I am cautious to say this as it is very early on, I was blessed with a baby. I wanted to tell you before anyone else. I will show you a positive side after I start a family as well.”
Choi, on the other hand, wrote, “[Park] is like a savior to me who taught me without words to smile brightly when I’m happy and to cry out loud when I’m sad. Now, we would like to make our marriage vows and let this love that I’m grateful for bear fruit. And though I feel cautious saying this, we were blessed with a baby while preparing for the new chapter in our lives.”

While Park is a top-billed actress, Choi is not without his own impressive body of work. Choi has starred in rom-com K-dramas such as “So I Married the Anti-fan,” “Suspicious Partner,” and “The Undateables.” He’s also been in Joseon-era period dramas such as “Flowers of the Prison.”
In the past, Choi Tae-joon met controversy concerning his friendship with fellow actor Jung Joon-young who was sentenced to prison for rape charges connected to the Burning Sun scandal. Although Choi wasn’t involved in the investigation, it was rumored that he relinquished a role in the 2019 series “Hotel Del Luna” due to his closeness with Jung.
We’re happy to hear that the couple has decided to take the next step in their relationship. As fans, we can only hope that they have a long and happy married life…and that Choi doesn’t get involved in any more controversies.
