Why You Should Get IG Notifications from Kendall Jenner, Marga Esquivel, and Rosenthal Tee

The inevitable is happening. Instagram, an app first developed to provide real-time photo updates (hence the prefix “insta”), is changing up its attack. Beaten by Snapchat and Periscope for fresher scoops, Instagram is going to change our feeds where the most-liked post will appear first rather than the most recent photo.

So what’s the sense of Instagram now, you may ask. As a social media platform, it’s still relevant no doubt between the selfies of Kylie Jenner and fashion campaign drops of Marc Jacobs. What the new algorithm (the date of when it’ll come remains a mystery), will do now is force us to really choose whose feeds are really important to us.

We here at Preen chose our picks of who are worth turning on our notifications for and it’s a mix of fashion influencers, design connoisseurs, and no-fail buzzmakers that have proven to be ahead of their respective fields all the time.

Big things are in store for this young designer who just put up a good show at last season’s New York Fashion Week. It would be indeed exciting to see the steady progress of Rosenthal who foretells the next generation of Philippine fashion’s best.

Home to internationally influential artists such as Takashi Murakami and Terry Richardson and based in three key locations: New York, Paris, and Hong Kong, the gallery regularly hosts shows that throwback to the best of the art scene and also look ahead at who is going to take over.

#4 Kendall Jenner

She just turned 20 and yet you can tell that she’s going to be around for a long time. Taking the supermodel image into the millennial culture, watch her take photos with the top designers and celebrities while making a name for herself apart from her famous clan.

#5 Pia Wurtzbach

As she reigns as Miss Universe, it would be a mistake not to keep our eyes on Pia and see what really goes on when one gets that crown.

#6 Mari Jasmine

Living a life in the spotlight and in between flights, Mari still manages to keep a simple and clean aesthetic. True to her insights on healthy living, she’s a good model for those who are struggle to strike a balance between hustling hard and keeping calm.

#7 Isabelle Daza

thanks for spending your Valentine’s morning with me at @riderevolution watch out for my pop up classes this coming week! 💃🏻 special shout out to @idatparas for being my hype woman👌🏽@adidasph

#8 Jade Taylor

“My first tattoo ever was the C-word on my ankles—go big or go home [laughs]. That was my nickname back in the day. Before MySpace there was a website called Face the Jury, which was an image site where you judged people. You put up a picture and people would rate you from one to 10—so shallow. I hopped on there running my mouth to everybody and my name was Cunt. I called myself that because people were so judgmental about a guy in makeup, so I was like, “I’m calling myself the most offensive word ever.” I got it on both ankles so no matter where I was walking you could see it. My mom about shit herself.” -read my full interview with @jeffreestar in our April issue! It’s good, trust. 💖 (📷 by @scottleonphoto) A photo posted by jade taylor (@jadextaylor) on Mar 28, 2016 at 12:19pm PDT

A peek into the Lush Cosmetics lab, off-the-cuff reviews of unusual makeup products, and confessions of transgender beauty idols are just some of the things you will see on Jade’s feed. As the senior beauty editor of Nylon, she doesn’t stick to how the cosmetics industry is the conventional, staid, pretty-girls-only club but is all about what is really beautiful in a weird, colorful world.

#10 Marga Esquivel

Snatching up projects from Topshop, Marc Jacobs, Gucci, and earning the attention of publications such as Refinery29 and Vogue Japan, Marga is the rising model who still manages to maintain that low-key, too-cool-for-this vibe. How she does it is the mystery that we’ll try to uncover one post at a time.
