It’s quite a good sign that Cannes Film Festival is just a normal part of Brillante Mendoza’s life. The director returns to France with Ma’ Rosa, a story of a couple selling drugs out of poverty. Starring Jaclyn Jose and Andi Eigenmann, the film is set to be another hit in the competition.
Aside from cleverly telling the dark stories of Manila’s reality, Brillante is also known for bringing out the best in mainstream actors who are no longer challenged by the usual formulaic plotlines.
Here’s to hoping Brillante, Jaclyn, and Andi bring home the bacon.
