In light of the recent killing of two black men, Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, many celebrities have penned open letters addressing this and calling for justice for the incident.
Both Beyoncé and Kim Kardashian took to their websites to call for help for the black community. Bey called for people to contact their local legislators to exact change, while Kim writes, “I want my children to grow up that their lives matter.”
Both Alton and Philando were shot by police officers in Dallas and Minnesota, respectively, this week. The incidents were only two days apart. Other personalities like Drake, Jada Pinkett-Smith, and Fifth Harmony’s Normani Kordei also wrote open letters to express their grief, call out the gun violence, and spread awareness through the hashtag #BlackLivesMatter.
