Things are turning to a younger tide. Designers Fernando Garcia, 29 and Laura Kim, 34 are now the creative directors of Oscar de la Renta. The duo worked for the brand for 18 years only to leave when Peter Copping was named creative director last year.
The snub birthed Monse, Fernando and Laura’s own label that demonstrates a youthful vibe through deconstructed pieces.
Fernando and Laura’s first collection for Oscar de la Renta will debut on Feb. 2017. From now on, they will be dividing their time between the brand favored by Hollywood A-listers and “ladies who lunch” with Monse.
Fernando and Laura join an elite club of designers who are at the helm of global luxury brands at a relatively young age such as Anthony Vaccarello (34), Alexander Wang (32), Demna Gvasalia (35), and Olivier Rousteing (30).
