A video of Miss Earth Philippines Imelda Schweighart where she talked about Hitler to Miss Austria surfaced last night, and it’s being criticized by netizens.
Oh My God! Our representative for Miss Earth. I KENNAT! ??? pic.twitter.com/wuVKePgve2

The short clip from Facebook live shows Imelda asking Kimberly Budinsky if Hitler was from Austria. The latter answered, “Okay, that’s a bad question because we don’t talk about Hitler, but yes he is.” Imelda then proceeded to talk about how President Rodrigo Duterte is “doing Hitler stuff here in the Philippines.”
All Miss Earth contestants are here in the country to prep for the grand pageant on Oct. 29. Imelda’s remark also comes after Duterte likened himself to the dictator and later apologized to the Jews. Meanwhile, Imelda tried explaining herself on her Facebook, saying that our President is “Hitler-like but for the good.” Is that supposed to make it better?
Her remarks have gained a lot of negative reactions from netizens―either saying that it was offensive of her to talk to Miss Austria about Hitler, or that she’s offended our President.
Imelda Bautista Schweighart. That was shocking. No explanation could help you get out of the mess you yourself created. #missedhistoryclass

Imelda Schweighart may be half German but as far as I know she was not raised in Germany which explains her ignorance in the Hitler remark.

Pray for Miss Earth-Philippines Imelda Schweighart. Nawa’y tantanan siya ng mga trolls at hardcore pro-Duterte #HitlerStuff

Yes, what Imelda said is definitely out of line but let’s give her room to learn from her mistakes and not make fun of her or send her threats.
