I Want to Hone My Children’s Supernatural Abilities

Every week, Preen tackles motherhood sans the rose-tinted glasses. Our columnists L. Juliano, Marla Darwin, Monica Eleazar-Manzano, and Rossana Unson tell their personal experiences like it is—at times frustrating, oftentimes confusing, but always enlightening.

A few months ago, one of my friends in a spiritual study group informed me that there are spirits in contact with her. The spirits told her that one of my children has the gift of prophecy, a supernatural power that I could access through this child whenever I would want to ask for advice. It got me thinking, “Which child?!” I certainly feel that both are very much connected to the spiritual realm.

My son always felt weird around churches. I have photos of him frozen in place staring at the walls and statues as a young child. The older he got, the more intense it became—to the point that he couldn’t eat properly in front of any kind of statue. He would have to dunk his head to make it lower than eye’s point of view, wear his jackets hoodie over his eyes or find a spot in the restaurant where he couldn’t see it. At times we would have to argue when he would refuse to eat in Japanese restaurants because he knew there were small statues in there. I always found that strange but a friend told me that a psychic friend of hers informed her that spirits do hide behind statues!

There were moments that he also wouldn’t go to the bathroom alone and when I didn’t go with him once, I heard him speaking to someone. When I asked him about it afterwards, he nonchalantly said he was speaking to his angels.

I also believe that my two-year-old daughter who I spiritually prepared for since conception could have supernatural powers. All throughout the pregnancy, I was practicing Mikveh, a special meditative immersion in water which removes layers of tikkun or correction needed for the soul of the mother and child. During her fourth month in utero, I traveled to attend Rosh Hashanah in Los Angeles to partake in this special holiday together with Kabbalah students worldwide. I took my chance and walked up to receive a blessing from Karen Berg, the spiritual director of The Kabbalah Centre. The reason for me to do so much inner work was because I was wishing to do a VBAC (vaginal birth after C-section) which was successful. I prayed, scanned and meditated during the labor and did get the birth of my dreams, a home drug-free water birth. My doula, Irina Otmakhova and my husband saw her dramatic entrance from the spiritual world to earth. Her amniotic sac came out as blue wings attached her body as she exited from my womb. They say that this manner of birthing in caul only happens with one in every 800,000 births so babies born this way have supernatural gifts.

I have yet to see more signs from my daughter as she grows but I hope to be able to hone both of my children’s abilities because it would be nice to have daily reminders from them that humans aren’t the only ones existing in the Universe. We are truly spiritual beings choosing to have a human experience, after all.
