At a rally in New Hampshire, Michelle Obama delivered a long speech that detailed Hillary Clinton’s credentials, the importance to vote, and the sickening nature of just about everything Donald Trump stands for.
She went in strong, directly attacking Donald for his bravado in sexually assaulting women and the “apology” he gave right after.“This is not normal,” she said in reference to how the news circulated like any other headline, “to dismiss it as everyday locker-room talk is to insult decent men everywhere.” She then detailed how the incident of representative of the abuse women suffer silently everywhere. “It’s like that sick sinking feeling when you’re walking down the street, minding your own business, and some guy yells out vulgar words about your body… It reminds us of stories we’ve heard from our mothers and grandmothers about how, back in their day, the boss could say and do whatever he pleased to women in the office, and even though they worked so hard, jumped through every hurdle to prove themselves, it was never enough.”
She went in personal, relating how she’s taking the comments to heart, as every woman should, “It has shaken me to my core in a way I couldn’t have predicted.” In this she didn’t only speak to the American crowd but in behalf of women everywhere, “The shameful comments about our bodies, the disrespect of our ambitions and our intellect, the belief you can do anything you want to a woman? It’s cruel, it’s frightening. And the truth is that it hurts. It hurts.”
Impassioned and every bit of the fierce First Lady she has come to be known, Michelle didn’t hold back. “We have everything we need to stop this madness,” she said as she urged voters to exercise their rights.
