Dior released their first campaign under their new creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri. It’s also the same feminist statement she conveyed during her debut show last September.
The collection is Maria’s way to empower women. She recruited photographer Brigitte Lacombe and twin models May and Ruth Bell for the spring 2017 campaign. These photos will also be part of Dior’s project called “The Women Behind the Lens,” which will focus on the clothes and the women wearing them.
Maria’s first Dior collection was applauded for its feminist message, especially since she’s the brand’s first female creative director. The runway show featured gowns paired with sneakers. But what caught everyone’s attention was a t-shirt with “We Should All Be Feminists,” a book written by Chimamanda Ngozi Adidichie, printed on the front.
We’re expecting to see the same feminist tone in future seasons, and we’re pretty excited about it. Good job, Maria!
