We’re counting down the hours before Lady Gaga performs at the Super Bowl. While it’s still unclear on which version of Gaga we’ll see, one thing’s for sure: she won’t be silent about inclusiveness and equality.
In a New York Times interview, Gaga hinted about her upcoming performance. “The only statements that I’ll be making during the halftime show are the ones that I’ve been consistently making throughout my career,” she says. “I believe in a passion for inclusion. I believe in the spirit of equality, and that the spirit of this country is one of love and compassion and kindness. My performance will uphold those philosophies.”
“I don’t know if I will succeed in unifying America,” Gaga adds. “You’ll have to ask America when it’s over.”
The singer has been vocal about many issues. She’s become an advocate for sexual abuse, protested the win of Pres. Donald Trump, and most recently, defended Kesha from Dr. Luke.
Although many publications are speculating that Gaga will take down Trump in her performance (just like every celeb as of late), she’s not confirming anything. Yet. What we’re sure of is that her friend and past collaborator Tony Bennett will be there to introduce her—maybe even sing with her onstage.
Another rumor is that Beyoncé will also be joining her. All because Gaga added a bee emoji to one of her posts. However, Gaga turned down the rumors and said that people “read into everything.” But who knows, right?
While we wait for her performance, we’re going to take note of how Gaga is prepping her skin for the halftime show. Because we know that she’s going to #slay that performance.
