The weekend was crazy thanks to New York Fashion Week. It was out of sheer luck we got to catch Hye Won Jang after her first NYFW show. Alexander Wang was right in giving out a disclamier early in his presentation that there is no need for an after-party. The runway in itself is the big celebration.
Speaking of Jenners, there’s controversy as editors were refused entrance at the Jeremy Scott show. It was apparently overbooked and there was an issue about gatecrashers on top of the extra measure taken as there was also a taping for Keeping Up with the Kardashians ongoing. Tyler McCall of Fashionista writes: “We had all waited in an absolute crush of people for 45 minutes on one of the busiest weeks of the year only to be told we could watch a livestream of the show. By my estimate, around 100 people were turned away.” Tyler points out that the editors turned down entrance were from Marie Claire, Nylon, Teen Vogue, and Refinery29 among other major publications. Uh-oh.
Other than that, the NYFW weekend was filled with more pleasant suprises. It-girl brand Self-Portrait made its first runway show while Victoria Beckham presented a menswear-inspired collection. Strong suits with see-through skirts were mixed with sharp collars and practical brogues.

The oddest bit of NYFW news is how Tiffany Trump and Marla Maples sat front row at the Toray Wang show. Toray is from Shanghai, China (an immigrant!) and made the pantsuit Tiffany wore at her father’s inauguration. Tiffany’s dad, if you didn’t know, isn’t loving of people from other countries nor of women who wear pantsuits.
