How This Local Fashion Brand Mixes Architectural Shapes With Simple Neutrals

Every person can attest to how easy it is to pull off a monochromatic outfit. Just throw on a plain black or white top, add accessories, and you’re good to go to any event. And don’t even get us started on our love for LBDs. But the palette can get dull when there’s scarce variety in terms of style.

That is what WEAVE makes up for with their pieces. The local brand decided to expand from being an online shop to having its first store in Uptown Mall. If you’re not familiar with it, they’re known for putting out minimalist pieces with assymetrical shapes and cuts.

“Our style is mostly modern minimalist, mainly focusing on neutral colors,” creative director Brit Romero tells us during the opening. For their newest collection, WEAVE took inspiration from architectural structures for each piece. “Just random things and shapes. From those shapes, we try to sketch them and put them in classic silhouettes to see what’s most flattering.”

When you browse through the store’s color-coordinated racks, you almost won’t see the same style. Some dresses are adorned with exaggerated flaps or pleats; another style has eye-catching ruffles running along the back. Tops are also given one-sided pleats to make them stand out from your staples. Accessories like shoes and clutches are reminiscent to traditional Filipino weaving.

Brit adds that you won’t see the same pieces when you visit the store. “We’ll bring in new pieces every two weeks. So it’s a different experience every time.”

With WEAVE’s bold details on minimalist fabric, it definitely shows how much you can do to change up neutrals. It’s just a matter of how you accessorize them for work or for play.
