In light of Anthony Rapp’s sexual assault allegations against Kevin Spacey, many have been wondering what will happen to House of Cards. Even we in the office didn’t know if we could watch it the same way again. Well, we can stop asking as Netflix is canceling the show. (Yay?)
Executives from Netflix and producers Media Rights Capital recently met with the cast and crew “to ensure that they continue to feel safe and supported.” Yesterday, House of Cards original creator Beau Willimon said, “Anthony Rapp’s story is deeply troubling. During the time I worked with Kevin Spacey on House of Cards, I neither witnessed nor was aware of any inappropriate behavior on set or off. That said, I take reports of such behaviour seriously and this is no exception. I feel for Mr. Rapp and I support his courage.”
It was just a few hours ago that Netflix announced that they’re pulling the plug on House of Cards after its season six premiere next year. Deadline also noted that Kevin’s film Gore, which is also under Netflix, might get canceled too.
Fans may feel sad that their favorite show won’t continue on. But then again, do you really want to watch an alleged pedophile on screen?
