Kylie Padilla Suffered From Postpartum Depression After Giving Birth to Baby Alas

By Jacqueline Ariason February 6, 2018

It’s been six months since Kylie Padilla gave birth to baby Alas Joaquin. Before celebrating this milestone with family, Kylie also opened up about overcoming postpartum depression.

Kylie posted a photo of her favorite childhood book, The Rainbow Fish, which she reads to Alas every night. In the caption, she shared how motherhood gets better as time goes on. “At [six] months [postpartum] I am happy and confident to say that the mood swings and [postpartum] depression have died down and I am enjoying this phase so much.”

“Not that I didn’t enjoy the past months, I’m just so happy to acknowledge the fact that I am in a stable place,” Kylie added. She’s also happy to see her son growing up “healthy and always laughing.”

In the past, other celebrity moms like Toni Gonzaga and Chrissy Teigen also opened up about postpartum depression. According to Postpartum Progress, around 10 to 20 percent of women experience symptoms. The World Health Organization noted that aside from clinical depression, new moms may also experience psychosis.

As we mentioned in previous articles, it’s important to talk about postpartum depression and its effects to end the stigma surrounding it. We’re also glad that moms like Kylie are doing well and keeping themselves healthy.
