Mariel De Leon and Catriona Gray Are Fine With Constructive Criticism

Training for pageant takes work and there’s always room for improvement. Just ask Binibining Pilipinas contestant Catriona Gray. During a panel workshop with other pageant queens, Catriona shared what her strength was. She was then given comments by the panel including Miss International 2017 contestant Mariel De Leon.

As seen in the video clip she said, “I really love your confidence and the way you speak but sometimes it seems a tiny bit scripted.”

A post shared by missSphilippines (@misssphilippines) on Mar 11, 2018 at 5:38pm PDT

This was meant to be constructive criticism but netizens took it differently. Many  shared negative comments towards Mariel on Twitter.

Mariel De Leon comments about Catriona Gray is very negative. Remember Mariel De Leon backstage ra kas MInternational! Atleast nakaabot si Catriona sa Top 5 sa Miss World. Eat your words Mariel!

in a world full of… actually, in this time and age, just don’t be a Mariel de Leon and be a Catriona Gray. Class cannot really be bought. #Binibini20

Why the hell is Mariel De Leon reacting as if Catriona Gray is the one who’s bashing her?

A true beauty queen shouldn’t be acting like that. Oh my gush, shame on her! ??

Mariel reacted to the issue on Instagram Stories saying, “There’s a difference between constructive criticism (to help someone) and bashing.”

Catriona also addressed the issue, “Any advice from our queens is valuable to us Binibinis and I took all of those given to me in a very constructive way! I always have something to learn and improve on, that’s why one of my greatest passions is education!!”

Hopefully their comments clear the air around this problem and are wising Catriona good luck for the upcoming contest on March 18.
