Every person who “shipped” Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan since Step Up had their hearts broken when the couple announced their split today. They’ve been married nine years and they have a daughter together. Even though they said that they did this “lovingly” and that this is the decision of “two best friends realizing it’s time to take some space,” it’s still sad.
“Love is dead! Nobody stays together forever!” Some of you are probably screaming those words right now. However, that doesn’t mean that their marriage wasn’t a success despite the fact that they broke up. You can see that they were happy in their many photos, videos, and posts about each other. Let’s look back on some of them, shall we? (Get a box tissue too in case you feel the tears coming up.)
Fondly remembering how they started dating
Channing and Jenna almost instantly started dating in 2006. In an Ellen interview, she recounted how Channing went to her hotel room wearing only underwear, sombrero, and Ugg boots. At the time, both of them had just gotten out of relationships and Jenna wanted both of them to do their own thing first. “He said he had the chance to be free, but he couldn’t stop thinking about me,” she said. “He comes down to my hotel room at two in the morning and banging on the door… He goes, ‘Let’s do this.'” At that moment on, they were together.
Dancing together
Since meeting on the set of Step Up, the two are always dancing together. In 2012, they performed a steamy number for the Rainforest Fund.
A more recent performance was when they did a dance-off during Lip Sync Battle. Channing did a Beyoncé performance while Jenna danced like Magic Mike.
Family days
When Jenna was still pregnant with Everly, the couple would grace the red carpet and pose with her growing baby bump. Just look at the love in their eyes!
They then celebrated Channing’s first father’s day with Everly in his arms. Awww.
Their quality time as a family didn’t stop as Everly grew older.
Always complimenting
Channing was never shy about complimenting Jenna on social media. The photos would range from magazine photos to random shots he took without her knowing. Our personal favorite is this black-and-white photo he took days after Everly was born. His message was so heartwarming too!
They took Halloween seriously
Whether it’s dressing up in silly costumes to accompany their daughter or going for a couple outfit, their Halloween celebrations never disappoint. Just look at their Nightmare Before Christmas moment last year.
Willing to do anything while playing with Everly
It’s not hard to believe that Channing regularly goes on “daddy duty” instead of going to red carpet events. They spend time with Everly so much that they’ll let her paint their faces and Jenna even wore a matching mermaid tail while playing at home.
They freak out over Beyoncé together
The couple once went to a Beyoncé show together. By the looks of their selfie, it seems like they had a pretty great time. Also can this be considered a perfect date since they’re in the presence of the queen?
