To everyone who thought that their cycling shorts will never see the light of day, then we’re sorry, but you’re wrong. Time to bust them out or even buy a new pair, either way, it looks like it’s here to stay.
It started with Kim Kardashian with what looked like a questionable look—she stepped out last year wearing a pair of tight cropped shorts and paired it with a corset and a cover up. Now we see it on other celebrities too and even on the runways of spring 2018.
Brands like Off-White (inspired by Princess Diana’s workout lewk), Saint Laurent, Fenty, Dion Lee, Nina Ricci, Dolce & Gabbana, and more had models wearing cycling shorts paired with blazers and other structured tops—maybe even making them look like they could be office-appropriate. We saw none of the oversized colorful tees or sweaters from two decades ago, which means the trend is back, but much, much better.
Naturally, we handpicked four people from our team and had them road test said trend in order to see if this can actually be worn on the daily. Are you ready?
So what do you think? Will you be copping a pair or will it be a hard pass? Let us know in the comments section!
