IN PARTNERSHIP WITH HUAWEI
There is this low-key competitive streak that we all have when taking photos of ourselves and our looks. Because who would want a badly curated feed or worse a terrible selfie up on the Interwebs, right?
The effort of women to take the best shots often gets nitpicked online and that’s not cool, so we’re here to talk about two things: The efforts of men to take the best selfies and the phone that can handle it all.
We gathered three guys from our office and grilled them regarding their selfie preferences, hesitations, and how each of their photos actually have proper creative direction behind them. “Do guys take selfies? Of course,” and that was the start of a very long (well, edited don’t worry) conversation.
They admit to getting judged when a guy takes selfies, so do it in a low-key situation or when a place is less crowded. Scout magazine editor-in-chief, Lex Celera, confirms this and shares that he prefers to not take selfies or #OOTDs in public. The others were pretty much envious of the fact that women can openly take photos when they want to and even get a bunch of likes—Art director Edric Deal Rosa feels like his only gets 24 likes on an average, he’s pretty hurt, IMHO.
When it comes to number of shots and layouts, it varies from one guy to another. While Lex and Edric prefer art directed shots with multiple layouts (plus a safety shot), videographer Javier Lobregat is usually fine with raw, candid shots. He snaps once or twice and is fine with whatever selfie outcome—blurry or sharp, hot or not.
The phone is another conversation altogether, usually pixels don’t matter for the guys, but it’s a huge plus. Creativity in the form of fun filters and AI features are also an unexpected hit with all three men—because who knew cat filters were an all-time fave? So if you ask us if we’ve found the phone that can match our selfie needs, well, we did and it only cost P15,990 for the Huawei Nova 3i and P25,990 for the Huawei Nova 3.
These have 24+2MP front cameras (Selfie Master) that will give you HD selfies, add to that the fact that they’ll adjust to any scenery and lighting thanks to AI Scene Recognition and AI Night Mode. To make their photos more playful, the guys got creative with the QMOJI and AR Effects features.
If you don’t believe us and want to see the Nova 3i and Nova 3 in action, just watch how we road-tested them.
