The second day of Bench Fashion Week Holiday 2018 had several elements for the everyday woman. You’ve got streetwear for laidback days, functional activewear for your go-to workouts, and fairytale-like gowns. To see what transpired, keep scrolling and check out the highlights.
Dennis Lustico
Dennis Lustico shared that he was inspired by the dresses of Madame D. (played by Tilda Swinton) in The Grand Budapest Hotel. “I was fascinated by her character because she’s a 90-year-old blue-blood lady who was having an affair with the hotel’s concierge, and was suddenly murdered,” he said. Aptly, the collection is also called The Imagined Life of Madame D.
If you’ve watched the film, you might remember that Madame D. always wore bright pieces that almost always matched the scenery. Dennis’ collection had no shortage of color with pieces in magenta and mustard, as well as a metallic palette fit for royalty. He also amped up the subtle prints on Madame D.’s ensembles and made them more noticeable.
You could say that The Imagined Life of Madame D. is what she could’ve worn during her younger years—OTT ruffles and pleats, feathers from head to toe, and dresses with trains flowing down every aisle. It’s like having our own The Grand Budapest Hotel spin-off film.

As Kendrick Lamar’s “Humble” boomed from the speakers, functional everyday pieces like hoodies, t-shirts, cardigans, and a few day dresses made their way down the runway. Not gonna lie, it was like staring at my own wardrobe.
Bench Active
Bench brought out a high-energy (literally) show for their activewear line. To show off how functional their pieces are, they had fitness instructors and models work out in the middle of the runway.
The fitness routine was then followed up with an array of celebrities rocking the new collection—mostly consisting of black, orange, and blue pieces. Lovi Poe opened the show wearing a sports bra and high-waisted panties.
All throughout we saw stars like Megan Young, Maxine Medina, Enrique Gil, and Iñigo Pascual looking their strongest.
BRB, motivated to work out diligently.
