If you could talk to your younger self, what would you say?

There is no fixed formula to making it in the creative industry. Each person is different, each hustle is different—but that doesn’t mean we can’t learn from each other at any stage of our lives and journey.

I’m in my late twenties, but I still get excited attending talks that are mostly targeted to the younger market. Heck, if there’s something I should’ve done when I was younger, it would’ve been to be like a sponge around the people I look up to. So all of you are blessed because our sister title Scout Magazine is hosting another Scout Creative Talks.

They gathered different people from different creative industries to share their knowledge and answer your burning questions.

First off, we have BJ Pascual to talk about photography (and probably a little bit about how to make it in Manila aka the title of his book!), he has shot more than a 100 covers and worked with different clients, so yes, he knows what he’s gonna be talking about.

Raya Martin

We also have Jamela Alindogan, a badass woman and an award-winning correspondent of Al Jazeera English. She will be talking about storytelling that’s based off her 10 years of experience. One of the many things that we love about her are her efforts to help the women and children from war-stricken provinces in the Philippines. If you wanna get to know her before the talk, watch how she packs when she does her coverage—trust us, it’s interesting.

Kim Jones will also be in town (yes, we finally pinned her down) to talk about her work in Fashion. This girl ditched her banking job in Australia and booked a one-way ticket to Manila—the rest, as they say, was history. She started creating her own content and got the attention of international media. She is the founder and creative director of The Fore—an e-commerce platform featuring her different design collaborations.

Federico Fanti

If there’s one person I’m excited to hear speak, that is Raya Martin. His most recent work on Smaller and Smaller Circles got me intrigued and I’m pretty sure you feel the same way. He has directed multiple features in shorts that featured all over the world—Centre Pompidou, New York Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, Museum of Modern Art, and so much more.

Next up is Federico Fanti who will talk about branding and working in the advertising industry. In the 15 years that he has worked in this creative field, he along with his team, has won multiple awards like the most-coveted Cannes Lion. If there’s a creative brain you have to pick, it’s definitely him.

Tisha Ramirez

Last, but definitely not the least, is our home girl Tisha Ramirez who will be talking about how women and even the LGBT community are represented in media. Empowering women and giving them better representation doesn’t stop at her job in Preen.ph, she also applies it to her personal endeavors—for one, she’s very much present in the music scene as a DJ.

If this list doesn’t get you excited to learn more about your chosen field, then I dunno what will.

Go grab your tickets now through smtickets.com for P500. Hurry and tell your friends as the seats will be very, very, very limited. See you there!

The event is powered by Hinge Inquirer Publications, special thanks to Oxygen and Reef; with media partners Philippine Daily Inquirer, inquirer.net, InqPop, Preen.ph (that’s us!), We The Pvblic, and LoopMe PH; venue partner is SM Aura Premier and SM Tickets as ticket outlets.
