Simple self-care tips to try RN

The long weekend is here. It’s been such a hectic time these past few weeks, and you’ve been drowned in all the work, but now you’ve got all this free time on your hands and for those who haven’t made plans, you’re probably still figuring out what to do with it. You might be tempted to lounge around all day in the dark, watching reruns of your favorite series until you get a headache. But hey, you can also use the time for some self-care to get you properly recharged for Monday. We’ve listed some below for you try. These are super simple and easy, trust us.

De-clutter

It sounds stressful, but it can actually be very soothing. You don’t even have to have a full-blown spring cleaning, just a mini de-clutter is fine. Put on some good music, and pick a room or area you want to focus on, like your closet perhaps? Start by getting rid of stuff you don’t use or need anymore. Better to donate them. You’ll feel a hundred times better after this.

Lay off social media

I know this is intimidating. You’re probably used to filling out your free time with scrolling through your feed. But trust me, this is the best time to go on a social media detox. Go offline for a while, just try. If you’re going out, better to bring along your old digicams or disposable cameras instead of your phones to avoid being tempted, just like Dua Lipa did during her recent vacation in India.

Treat yourself to a home spa

No need for some massage table, don’t worry. All you need is some body wash and your favorite essential oil. Have a long, satisfying bath or shower, then lounge around in your bathrobe or your favorite extra large shirt. Grab a magazine or that book you’ve been wanting to read but never had the time for, and start.

Squeeze in a morning run

I know it’s hard, but try waking up super early for a run. It doesn’t even have to be a run. It can just be a walk. Do it while listening to your feel good music, and after, treat yourself to a hearty breakfast. I promise the alarm is worth it. But in case that didn’t work out, a night jog or walk is okay too.

Meet with your best friend

Life’s been pretty busy, especially this time of year. We get it. Most probably you haven’t had time to catch up with your person—be that your childhood friend, your mom, or whoever. This long weekend is the perfect time to reconnect and really spend time with them—like really sit and talk with them, not just a quick “how are you” or “I missed you.”
