It’s amazing how Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas (and their guests) are keeping their wedding low-key, while still being the talk of the town. No one is posting anything from the Christian wedding ceremony yet but of course, pertinent details always find their way out.
If you’re just as invested on the Chopra-Jonas nuptials, here’s what went down in the last few days. There’s still the Hindu wedding happening later today so be sure to check back.
Friday: The vibrant Mehendi ceremony
The couple shared photos from the Mehendi ceremony and it was definitely a vibrant affair. This is a pre-wedding event where the bride gets an elaborate henna design on her hands and feet. The application of Mehendi is said to relax the bride and keep her from having a fever before she walks down the aisle.
Based on the photos, the Chopra and Jonas families looked like they were having a blast in their colorful Indian garments and drinks.
Friday part 2: The sangeet
A sangeet is usually held the night before a traditional Hindu wedding. But for Priyanka and Nick, they did it before all their wedding ceremonies
The couple’s wedding photographer Joseph Radhik shared on Instagram Stories (as cited by NDTV) that he “may just have witnessed the most amazing sangeet night of them all.” Meanwhile, sources told Filmfare that there were games, performances, and a mini Jonas Brothers number courtesy of Kevin Jonas and Joe Jonas. (My teenage heart jumped at the last bit.)
Based on Priyanka’s post, there was indeed a full-on production for their sangeet.
Saturday part 1: The Christian wedding
Priyanka and Nick got married at the Taj Umaid Bhawan in Jodhpur. According to People, it was officiated by Nick’s father, Frankie Jonas Sr., as they exchanged vows and Chopard rings. NDTV also reported that Elizabeth Chambers, YouTuber Lilly Singh, and singer Jasmin Walia were among the guests.
After saying “I do,” Asian News International caught a video of fireworks coming from the venue.
The couple, the entourage, and their immediate families all wore Ralph Lauren. It’s only fitting since the two were first spotted together while wearing the label at the Met Gala 2017. However, they weren’t together yet at the time.
There are no photos of the wedding dress or the tuxedo yet. But Ralph Lauren shared on Instagram that Priyanka wore a custom gown while Nick wore a Purple Label tux.
Saturday part 2: Digital cover and swoon-worthy videos
Vogue commemorated Priyanka and Nick’s wedding by putting out their first-ever digital cover, plus two videos featuring the couple. Not gonna lie, I was internally squealing the whole time.
Sunday: The Hindu wedding
According to People, the ceremony was held at Taj Umaid Bhawan again. Priyanka opted for a red sari dress while Nick wore a traditional outfit and turban.
Bombay Times reported that the couple and their guests had a two-hour breakfast before heading to the venue. The outfit motif was “pink, orange, and purple” and the Mandana Hall, where they held the wedding, was decorated with marigolds. Sources also said that Nick rode a horse before joining Priyanka on an elephant ride around the palace premises.
