Singapore has always been on our radar. We’ve talked about five things you have to do when you visit and the food spots to check out. This time, let’s focus on fun activities you can do on vacation. If you’re heading over there this coming holiday break, I have a few itinerary additions you have to check out. For those who don’t have any Christmas plans yet, maybe these will convince you to book your flights tonight. For families, don’t worry, these activities aren’t just for little kids.
E-scooter
If you’ve always wanted to try an E-scooter, this is your chance. We were able to go on a tour with Let’s Go. Depending on the interests of the group, you can go on a historical tour, Marina Bay night tour, food tour, or even map out your own. Before the group heads off, the guides will give a quick lesson on how to use the E-scooter. Don’t worry, it’s actually pretty easy and so much fun. If you still can’t get a hang of it, they also have bikes as an alternative. During our tour, we were able to see the view of Marina Bay and even came across some wild otters.
Craft workshops
In between hectic activities, slow down and crafty with some workshops. You can head over to Naiise and see which ones they have lined up. These range from embroidery, makeup, weaving, candle-making, and so much more. Since it’s the Christmas season, our’s was a watercolor workshop wherein we had to paint a wreath. Everything was already provided from the paints to paper, and even a helpful booklet. Our teacher was half of the sister duo behind Jadore Studio. She went through the basics and gave us tips along the way. Go through the different workshops here and take your pick.
Universal Studios
Universal Studios will always be a must when visiting Singapore. Since this is probably already on your list, the amusement park added some Christmas specials for the guests. First up is a new production called PRESENTation Day, Which takes place on the Hollywood Lagoon Stage. What to expect? Singing, a dance battle between an elf and a robot, toy-making, and the cutest gingerbread man. There is also a parade on New York Street. This one is seriously so extra. There are floats with lights, characters like the Minions, screens that mimic the night sky, and a special surprise: snow. Aside from these specials, you will also see Christmas decorations around the park.
Rainforest Lumina
If you’ve already been to the Singapore Zoo, here’s a new way to experience it. Until February 2019, the zoo is transformed at night time. This is a multimedia night walk with both audio and visual elements set up by Moment Factory. Enjoy green lazers that look like fireflies and video mapping showing animal characters interact with one another. There are also interactive areas that will have you singing/shouting and jumping to reveal special surprises. This was our last stop on day three and we ended close to midnight. I was honestly exhausted but the activities in the zoo spiked my adrenaline. Yeah, it’s definitely not just for kids.
Gardens by the Bay
Garden by the Bay is another go-to spot in Singapore but they added holiday elements to make it even more exciting. In the flower dome, the bottom level is decorated with Disney characters in Tsum Tsum form. There’s a flower path where you can see Woody, Eeyore, and Flounder. There is even a giant tree made of stacked Tsum Tsums. By the supertrees, they also set up Christmas Wonderland. Here you will find food and shopping stalls, rides, carnival games, and even an ice skating rink. You can dedicate one whole day just exploring Gardens by the Bay to see all the attractions.
