Despite multiple sexual assault allegations, R. Kelly continues to roam free. But his time may finally be up. According to The New Yorker, the singer will be indicted following the discovery of a new video evidence, reportedly involving graphic and disturbing images with a minor.
CNN, who claims to have seen the footage, wrote that “The newly unearthed footage, which lasts 42 minutes and 45 seconds, is clear and explicit. There are two scenes on the video: one apparently in a living room and another in a bedroom. A naked man who appears to be R. Kelly is seen performing multiple sex acts with the girl. She is heard calling him ‘daddy’ multiple times.” They added: “It is impossible to know her age just from the video. They both refer to her ‘14-year-old p***y.’ Six times the girl refers to her genitalia as 14 years old. At one point, the man asks the girl to urinate. After she does, he urinates on her.”
Though it mirrors the previous evidence against him, Michael Avenatti, a lawyer working on behalf of several of R. Kelly’s accusers, stressed that it’s not the same one presented in the 2008 case against Kelly.
“Our work has been painstaking, detailed, expensive, and time-consuming,” Avenatti said. “Mr. Kelly is a predator and a criminal who has prayed on young, vulnerable girls for far too long. The time has come for him to finally be held accountable for his actions.”
We all know R. Kelly getting acquitted for his previous case is a travesty. The fact that he’s still free to continue assaulting girls and women is seriously upsetting. Hopefully, the indictment pushes through, and the justice system will finally do his victims right this time.
