Familiarize yourself with local brand Ever Bilena and the people behind it

IN PARTNERSHIP WITH EVER BILENA

Remember when you were somewhere between high school and college, and experimenting with makeup? If we weren’t scouring our mom’s vanity, we would turn to the affordable items we’d find in the mall. Fast forward to now, it’s kinda surprising to see ourselves and other people still flocking to the brands we were used to purchase back then.

Ever Bilena is one of those brands that you just see everywhere. It’s a local brand with affordable, fairly priced makeup items that women—even the men! —young and old can use. You may have also seen several of their posters featuring a roster of Filipina celebrities like Max Collins, Kris Aquino, and Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray.

But you might’ve already known and/or noticed that—what do you not know about Ever Bilena? Here are some fun facts for ya:

Origin of the brand name

FilipiKnow noted that the word “Bilena” is a combination of two Chinese words—”bile” meaning “beautiful” and “na” meaning lady. So, if you put two and two together, it’s “ever beautiful lady.” Interesting.

Its very first product

Before coming out with a wide range of cosmetics, Ever Bilena’s first product was just nail polish when it launched in 1983. I guess the brand wanted to cater to more women and slowly added lipsticks, eyebrow pencils, and eyeshadow palettes.

EB was founded by a man

Dioceldo Sy, Silliman Sy, and Denice Sy

Yup, Ever Bilena was founded businessman by CEO Dioceldo Sy. His brother, Silliman Sy, is the COO and helps with the operations in the company. Now, Dioceldo’s daughter, Denice Sy-Munez, is helping with the company. She also has a blog where you can get to know her and other updates about the brand.

There’s a basketball team under Ever Bilena

Dioceldo also owns professional professional basketball team Blackwater Elite, named after the men’s fragrance and body care line under Ever Bilena Cosmetics. His brother is also helping him in this endeavor.

Has a determined marketing team

The Ever Bilena marketing team

Behind every brand is a team of people who make sure they get the name out there. Ever Bilena’s marketing team describe themselves as aggressive in terms making sure the brand maintains its position as the #1 local cosmetics in the country.

It’s actually cruelty-free

This is actually a surprise to me for some reason, but I’m glad that Ever Bilena is cruelty-free. Truth be told, I found out while checking out one of their lipsticks on the site. According to their FAQ, they are still adopting the cruelty-free logo on all their newly-launched products. They also confirmed that “the finished products are not tested on animals and doesn’t contain any animal by-products.” If you want more signs that it’s safe for use, their makeup is also paraben and lead-free. (Yay!)

The brand is about to turn 36!

This month, Ever Bilena is celebrating its 36th birthday and they’re still keeping with their promise to provide affordable and quality products to all. The real question is how they’re going to celebrate another year in the beauty biz—and are we invited to this party?
