If you’re a K-drama fan, then you’ve probably watched Descendants of the Sun—and fallen in love with the lead character, Big Boss.

Originally played by Korean actor Song Joong-ki, GMA News revealed none other than Dingdong Dantes will assume that role in the local adaptation

At a press conference following his contract renewal, Dingdong said the birth of his second child, Ziggy, inspires him to do his best for this role. “More than very physically prepared, I’m emotionally, spiritually prepared, lalo na napaka espesyal nito,” He says. “Iba yung inspirasyon ko ngayon at hugot ngayong chapter nitong buhay ko.” (My inspiration and motivation for this chapter in my life is at a different level) Aww!

Sadly, details about the project are still scarce. “Preparations, wala pa talaga masyado. Binubuo pa talaga yung buong show.” Looks like we’ll have to wait a bit more on who will play Dr. Kang Mo-yeon and the rest of the characters.

In the meantime, fans took to social media to express their thoughts about Dingdong’s casting… and it’s a mixed reaction.

Am a fanatic of DOTS and have watched it several times and still watching it until now..Dingdong Dantes really fits the role of Big Boss 👍👍👍👍

Nastress ako. hahahaha I love Dingdong but this casting is so wrong in so many levels 🙁 He doesn't have the Big Boss vibes and charms at all.

okay, they gave descendants of the sun to dingdong dantes. not that I don't like dingdong, ano lang, the franchise is already big. hindi na kailangan ng big actors, just good ones. sayang, nagamit sana ng GMA to catapult their mid-tier talents…

LIKE KYLIE AND RURU! UGH!
