Taylor Swift is back and more colorful than ever. After teasing new music and her upcoming pastel era on Instagram, she released her first music video for her song “Me!” featuring Brendon Urie of Panic! at the Disco.
If you ask us to describe the video, it’s a ’70s-inspired Dr. Seuss fever dream with no shortage of rainbows. Trust us, we mean that in a good way.
One of the first things we noticed is how Taylor finally killed the snake (which is a callback to the controversy with Kim K), and is now opting for butterflies and kittens. The rest of the video shows Taylor and Brendon in pastel pieces, surrounded by colorful elements and magic á la Mary Poppins. “Me!” is also a happier tune compared to “Look What You Made Me Do,” which was considered her revenge track back then.
Perhaps this is a sign that she has fully moved on from whatever’s been troubling her from the past. The song is also a self-care reminder because “you can’t spell ‘awesome’ without ‘me.'” God, that’s such a Dr. Seuss-y line but hey, it works.
