Here’s your first look at The CW’s ‘Batwoman’

DC fans, hold onto your seats because The CW just released the first Batwoman trailer.

In the three-minute clip, we are given a closer look at the titular character’s origins. Kate Kane, played by Ruby Rose, is the daughter of Jacob Kane, the man who founded a private security firm called the Crows. After years of survival training at military school, she was discharged and found herself back at Gotham, which is now sprawling with criminals again, after Bruce Wayne’s disappearance three years ago.

When the Alice in Wonderland gang attacks her father and kidnaps one of his best officers, Sophie Moore, Kate was pushed to become a masked vigilante herself. The Guardian notes that in the comics, Kate dated Sophie when they were both students at West Point.

According to Bustle, “In addition to teasing the romance between Kate and Sophie, the first Batwoman trailer will inspire female viewers by drawing direct comparisons between the way Kate is different from her cousin, Bruce Wayne.” In the trailer, when she got mistaken for Batman, she had her suit altered and added the signature flaming red hair to her superhero outfit. “I’m not about to let a man take credit for a woman’s work,” she said.

Yes, girl! We love ourselves a badass woman who knows her worth. Since this is a landmark show for the LGBT community, we expect a lot from it. How about you, what are your expectations from the show? Let us know in the comments section below.
