Angkas apologizes to riders and bikers for sexual promo ad

On July 31st, PNP Hotline Twitter account called out Angkas⎯Metro Manila’s motorcycle ride-hailing firm for their announcement on their new promo code that was released the day before.

Angkas tweeted, “Angkas is like sex. It’s scary the first time pero masarap na ulit-ulitin.

The sex-related tweet hails the attention of the PNP, and responds, “This is not acceptable to commuters. Matatakot ang tao sa Angkas ‘pag ganito. This is not promoting public safety in transport business anymore.”

Angkas has already taken down their tweet, and posted an apology earlier today.

“We would like to emphasize that making our riders feel uncomfortable is the last thing we want to do. For this, we sincerely apologize,” Angkas said in a statement.

The company admitted that despite their “playful” and “funny” marketing, this was a big misstep for them. They also extended the apology to its biker-partners who could be implicated by the controversial tweet.

“Our biker-partners have been trained to respect their riders and make them as comfortable as possible. And no tweet can change that fact,” it said.
